I'm having a weird problem where whenever I close my outlook express my jaws freezes on me and I have to restart.
I'm using jaws 8 and windows XP.

did you do a jaws key+t to say title? If it says no window is active do a windows key+m to go to the desktop and jaws should say desktop.

Tried that all ready.
I've even tried alt tabbing through open windows.
Nothing.

That's something that happens to some people. I've never heard an explanation why. This is a messy way to do it, but when you want to exit OE, you might just go into task manager, and under the processes tab, kill the program msim.exe. I wish I had a better answer for you.

It's something to try anyway.
Thanks.

Although I don't have that problem this sounds like a good call to fs tech support.

JAWS Sucks on the basis that it doesn't work with many new programs, and it freezes with simple older programs.

I wouldslam fs support with this and anything else anyone fnds, since jaws nine's in beta for the next two moths. As for calling support, the last true do what I would, not because I get paid for this, tech man left so you're left with what i would considder a blood soaked pad quivallent or I wouldn't call them if you paid me. lol good luck though. but seriousl subscribe to te jaws-users list and go from there. jaws-uses.com is the website, and the link to sub is there as well.

I will do that since I've heard too many horror stories about calling jaws tech-support.

I have the same problem as poster one, and I have no clue what to do.

Get rid of JAWS, ad use WE. LOL, I suggest asking around on the JAWS list, and searching in google.

Can you restart jaws, or do you have to restart the computer?
Try bringing up narrator and see if you are in a dialog that says something like "this application has encountered a problem and must close".

If the problem is in outlook express, I think there is a "repair" function under help that might fix this problem.

Calling fs support is a good idea, and, if you encounter problems with their suggestions then complain to fs.

Suggestion: do a jaws repair. depending on what version of jaws you have it will be in the sart menu under jaws and maintenance or you will need to pop in the jaws cd and pick repair from the instalatin choices . also, CCleaner from CCleaner.com can help. I have had it clean up internet explorer errors. had a problem where I would go to a site and IE would give me that application error. CCleaner cleared that up.
